Why Pointed Stilettos?

The "round versus pointed" toe debate is a favourite topic for footwear-related discussion. The argument is, however, quite futile - it is a question of personal taste. It is undoubtedly true that the conservative majority, who favour simple, undemanding footwear, regard our long pointed toes and spiky heels as too extreme.

However, some people are turned on by the elegance of a shoe with a very extended pointed toe, just as some have a fetish for high, thin stiletto heels. Some, like us, love to see both design features on the same shoe, and that's why RoSa Shoes exists. Our own opinion is that a stiletto-heeled shoe without an extremely pointed toe is lacking a large percentage of its sensual fascination. Round toes and big thick heels, easier to manufacture and wear though they may be, just don't (in our view) have that magical extra ingredient. The ultra-pointed-toe "stiletto", as the entire shoe has become popularly known is, to us, an icon beyond fashion - a timeless object of desire.

Our RoSa Shoes collection is inspired by the original long-point stiletto shoes (also affectionately known to some original wearers as "winklepickers") which attained their pinnacle of refinement around 1960-61, and were worn again in the early 1980s as vintage "old stock". They have now almost disappeared. We recognised a need to recapture and make readily available - perhaps even to improve upon - the classic extended-point stiletto styling, following on from recent developments in Italian shoe manufacture which have made possible an extreme-looking, yet comfortable, pointed stiletto shoe.
