Our High Stiletto shoe is intended for women who like their heels very high, but still wearable. Heel height is graded according to shoe size, between 11.5 cm at size 35 and 13 cm at size 41.
Shoes featuring our 3cm Platform Sole are similar in pitch to our higher pointed stiletto shoes (not identical, but they feel more or less the same to wear). The heel is approx. 3 cm higher than our non-platform high heels. The steel stem of the platform stiletto heel is 1mm thicker to maintain optimum strength. The heel height of the platform shoes is also graded with shoe size, but the depth of the platform sole remains constant. Heel height is approx. 14 cm at size 36, 14.5 cm at sizes 37, 38 and 39 and 15 cm at sizes 40 and 41.
Our Classic Stiletto (9.25 cm at size 35 increasing to 10 cm at size 41 - NOW UNFORTUNATELY DISCONTINUED after current stocks are sold) should present no problem, even to the inexperienced stiletto wearer. With a lower heel, you will of course be more conscious of the long pointed toes of your shoes when you look down at your feet, because less of your foot is elevated, but this is not at all unattractive or disproportionate. If you are in any doubt of this, please examine some of the "Sarah of RoSa" video clips and photos on our gallery page.
Although it is possible, with practice, to gradually become more comfortable on higher heels, the maximum heel height a woman can wear (without the help of a platform sole) is ultimately determined by the size of her feet. Our heels are graded in height through the shoe size range, giving consistent proportion, so a woman wearing size 36 will appear to be wearing the same shoe as a woman with size 41.
Our shoes are extremely well-balanced and (when you are accustomed to our long pointed toes! ) surprisingly wearable. The incredibly slender heels are correctly designed for the lasts on which the shoes are made. The rear curve of the heel positions the stem of the heel below the ankle, enabling graceful, unhindered movement.
[NB 1: Some "designer" shoes may set the heel further back, and straighten, or even reverse the curve of the back line of the heel in an attempt to make the shoe look higher. This makes walking awkward - and yet the elevation is no greater than an inwardly curved stiletto heel, set well in under the ankle.
NB 2: It is interesting to note, on the subject of heel height, that the shoes made (over a ten year period) by Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo for one of the most famous high heel wearers of all, actress Marilyn Monroe, invariably had an 11cm heel.]
