Our High Stiletto shoe is intended for women who like their heels very high, but still wearable. Heel height is graded according to shoe size, between 11.5 cm at size 35 and 13 cm at size 41.
Shoes featuring our 3cm Platform Sole are similar in pitch to our higher pointed stiletto shoes (not identical, but they feel more or less the same to wear). Thanks to the platform, these shoes have a correspondingly higher heel than our non-platform high-heeled shoes. The steel stem of the platform stiletto heel is 1mm thicker to maintain optimum strength. The heel height of the platform shoes is graded with shoe size, but the depth of the platform sole remains constant. Heel height is from approx. 14 cm at size 36 to 15cm at size 41.
Our Classic Stiletto (9.25 cm at size 35 increasing to 10 cm at size 41 - NOW DISCONTINUED after current stocks are sold) should present no problem, even to the inexperienced stiletto wearer, once she has become accustomed to the long pointed toe. With a lower heel, of course, a woman may at first be more self-conscious about the long pointed toes of her shoes when she looks down, because less of the foot is elevated in line with the leg. Although it certainly makes a strong statement, the long pointed toe is not at all unattractive or disproportionate from the point of view of an observer. If you are in any doubt of this, please examine some of the "Sarah of RoSa" video clips and photos on our gallery page.
On the subject of heel height in general; although it is in fact possible, with regular wear, to gradually raise the threshold of tolerance and become more comfortable on higher heels, the maximum heel height a woman can wear (without a platform sole) is ultimately determined by the size of her feet. Some "fetish"-orientated shoemakers disregard this, and deliberately distort the length of the last to accommodate an impossibly long heel (very little of which is, in reality, UNDER the woman's foot!) We don't do this, because we like our shoes to fit properly, and we see no attraction in shoes that do not.
Whatever heel height is chosen, we take the trouble to ensure our shoes are well-balanced and wearable. The incredibly slender heels are correctly designed for the lasts on which the shoes are made. The pronounced rear curve of the heel positions the stem of the heel below the ankle, enabling a sensual, elegant walk.
[NB 1: Some "designer" shoes have the stem of the heel set further back, straightening, or even reversing the curve of the back line of the heel in an attempt to make the shoe look higher. This undoubtedly makes walking more difficult - and yet the elevation is no greater than an inwardly curved stiletto heel, set well in under the ankle.
NB 2: It is interesting to note, on the subject of heel height, that the shoes made (over a ten year period) by Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo for one of the most famous high heel wearers of all, actress Marilyn Monroe, invariably had an 11cm heel.]
